Project Monitoring and Control
Project Monitoring and Control involves tracking, reviewing, and regulating the progress and performance of a project. It also identifies areas where adjustments to the project management approach are needed and implements the necessary changes.
The Monitoring & Controlling process group consists of eleven key processes:
1.Monitor and Control Project Work – The overarching activity under which all monitoring and controlling tasks fall.
2.Perform Integrated Change Control – Managing and approving changes to the project plan, including schedule, cost, or other components, with re-approval from the project sponsor.
3.Validate Scope – Securing formal acceptance of the project’s deliverables.
4.Control Scope – Preventing unauthorized changes or scope creep, ensuring the project stays within its defined boundaries.
5.Control Schedule – Monitoring progress to ensure deadlines are met and work aligns with the approved timeline.
6.Control Costs – Keeping project expenses within the approved budget.
7.Control Quality – Ensuring deliverables meet the quality standards outlined in the project management plan.
8.Control Communications – Managing the flow of information to meet stakeholder communication needs.
9.Control Risks – Protecting the project from unforeseen events that could impact budget, schedule, quality, or stakeholder satisfaction.
